Louis John Cozolino, PhD, holds a doctorate in clinical psychology as well as degrees in philosophy and theology. He has conducted empirical research in schizophrenia, child abuse and the long-term impact of stress. His areas of interest include neuroscience and neuropsychology, which is the integration of psychological observation on behavior and the mind with neurological observation on the brain and nervous system. In addition, he has conducted research on the biobehavioral sciences and psychotherapy. Recently, Cozolino authored The Neuroscience of Human Relationships: Attachment and the Developing Social Brain. In the text he presents an atlas illustrating how the architecture and development of brain systems-from before birth through adulthood-determine how humans interact with others. Cozolino has authored two additional books, The Neuroscience of Psychotherapy: Building and Rebuilding the Human Brain and The Making of a Therapist: A Practical Guide for the Inner Journey, as well as numerous articles and chapters on psychological topics. In addition to his teaching and writing, Cozolino maintains a clinical and consulting practice in Los Angeles.
