Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology 
CE Required: 20 hours per year (Oct 1 - Sept 30)
Online CE Allowed: No limit if APA-approved 
License Expiration: 10/15, annually - CE due 9/30 
National Accreditation Accepted: APA

Counselors

Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling 
CE Required: LPC-40 / ALC-20 hours every 2 years 
Online CE Allowed: LPC - 10 hours / ALC: 2.5 hours per renewal (25% of hours)
License Expiration: 7/31, every 2 years from initial 
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC 
Notes: LPCs: 6 hrs ethics per renewal; ALCs: 2 hrs ethics

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs)

Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology & Audiology

Notes: 10 hrs must be in area of licensure

National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC 
Notes: 10 hrs clinical MFT, 6 hrs ethics and professional issues & 6 hrs diagnosis & treatment required each renewal. LMFT supervisors must also complete a minimum 5 hours CE in the content area of supervision.

School Psychologists

Alabama State Department of Education

The Alabama State Department of Education certifies school psychologists. Candidates may apply for certification as school psychologists in Alabama through the traditional pathway or the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) pathway. Psychologists who wish to practice outside a school setting must have a license issued by the Alabama Board of Psychological Examiners (http://www.psychology.state.al.us). The Alabama Board recognizes school psychology as a specialty within professional psychology.
