Connecticut continuing education (CE) requirements:
COVID-19 Note: Governor Lamont issued Executive Order 7DD suspending the continuing education requirements for professional counselors. Licensees with expiration dates between March 10, 2020, and February 28, 2021 are not required to complete the continuing education required for license renewal.
Connecticut Department of Public Health - Professional Counselor Licensure
CE Required: 15 hours per year
Online CE Allowed: No limit (must have post-test & certificate)
License Expiration: Birthmonth, annually
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC, APA, ASWB

For registration periods ending after January 1, 2016, each licensee applying for renewal is required to complete at least two contact hours of training or education (and not less than once every six years thereafter) on the topic of mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans, including (A) determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran, (B) screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and (C) suicide prevention training.
Minimum 1-hour training annually must be on the topic of cultural competency.

COVID-19 Note: Governor Lamont issued Executive Order 7DD suspending for six (6) months the continuing education requirements for speech and language pathologists. Licensees with expiration dates between April 30, 2020, and October 31, 2020 are not required to complete the continuing education required for license renewal.

CE Required: 20 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: No limit (must have posttest & certificate)
License Expiration: Birth month, every 2 years
National Accreditation Accepted: ASHA
Notes: 10 hrs must be in the area of licensure

Connecticut State Department of Education
The Connecticut State Department of Education certifies school psychologists. Candidates may apply for certification as school psychologists in Connecticut through the traditional pathways. Completion of 90 contact hours of continuing education activities, during each successive 5-year period is required for school psychologists. Such hours may include a combination of continuing education activities or any successfully completed graduate course related to the individual's endorsement area. One graduate credit used for the purpose of continuing the professional educator certificate shall represent 15 contact hours.
