Psychologists

Illinois DPR - Psychologists 
CE Required: 24 hours every two years
Online CE Allowed: 18 hours
License Expiration: 9/30, even years 
National Accreditation Accepted: APA
Notes: At least 3 of the 24 hours must include content related to the ethical practice of clinical psychology; perscribing psychologists must complete an additional 20 hours CE in pharmacology; Distance learning courses must have a post test and course evaluation

Illinois DPR - Professional Counselors
CE Required: 30 hours every 2 years 
Online CE Allowed: 15 hours "correspondence courses" - must have posttest 
License Expiration: 3/31, odd years 
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC, APA, ASWB
Notes: All LCPCs must complete 18 hrs of clinical supervision as a 1-time requirement

School Psychologists

Illinois State Board of Education

The Illinois State Department of Education certifies school psychologists. Candidates may apply for certification as school psychologists in Illinois through the traditional pathway or the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) pathway. Psychologists who wish to practice outside a school setting must have a license issued by the Illinois Board of Psychological Examiners (http://www.idfpr.com/profs/psych.asp). PELs are valid for five years after professional development requirements are met. The NCSP credential is accepted as meeting renewal requirements. Those without the NCSP must obtain 120 continuing professional development hours (PD hours) every five years.
