In accordance with the Governor’s Orders and the Commissioner’s Order, the following provisions shall apply to current and expired licenses issued by the Board of Registration of Psychologists, Board of Registration of Social Workers, and Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions within the Division of Professional Licensure.
Licenses issued to individuals by the Board of Registration of Psychologists, Board of Registration of Social Workers, and Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions within the Division of Professional Licensure shall not expire during the pendency of the State of Emergency. Specifically:
(1) Licenses that were not revoked, suspended, surrendered, cancelled or subject to non-disciplinary restrictions and which expired between March 10, 2020 and March 17, 2020 will be restored to current status.
(2) Licenses which are due to expire during the pendency of the State of Emergency shall not expire until 90 days after the Governor issues notice that the State of Emergency no longer exists.
(3) The Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure License Verification Site, located at https://www.mass.gov/division-of-professional-licensure-check-a-license will continue to display the license status for all licensees, but will not display an expiration date during the pendency of the State of Emergency.

Massachusetts Board of Registration of Psychologists
CE Required: 20 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: No limit if APA approved
License Expiration: 6/30, even years
National Accreditation Accepted: APA
Notes: All CE activities must be clearly psychological in nature

National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC (Professional Development Resources is an NBCC-approved provider #5590)

Massachusetts Board of Registration in SLP & A
CE Required: 20 hours every 2 years (30 if dual licensed)

License Expiration: 1/6, even years
National Accreditation Accepted: ASHA (Professional Development Resources is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA Provider #AAUM) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology)
Notes: Minimum of 10 hrs in area of licensure

Please note that we have been unable to verify the online allowance for CE at this time. In 2017 social workers were allowed to complete all of their CE requirements on line with ASWB approved providers. We will conitnue to check the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers for more up to date information.

MA does not currently have a requirement for CE as a condition of license renewal for Occupational Therapists. It is recommended that all licensees engage in continuing competence.

Because of the current declared state of emergency in Massachusetts, for the 2019-2021 licensing cycle only, the Board will suspend and not enforce its “Use of Home Study and On-Line Programs to Meet the Continuing Education Requirements: Policy No.: 07-02” so that licensees may complete ALL required continuing education through home study or online programming.
