Missouri continuing education (CE) requirements:

Psychologists

Missouri Committee of Psychologists 
CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years 
Online CE Allowed: No limit if APA approved (Cat A) 
License Expiration: 1/31, even years (CE due 11/30, odd years)
Notes: 15 hrs must be Cat A "formal"; 
HB 1719 was passed during the 2018 legislative session and signed into law. The bill requires professionals to complete at least two hours of training in suicide assessment, referral, treatment, and management training, as a condition of initial licensure. Applicants for initial licensure as a Psychologist must maintain documentation of complying with this provision. The aforementioned two (2) hours can be part of the graduate course of study or obtained through self-study.

Counselors

Home Study Allowed: 40 (Cat A)
License Expiration: 6/30, odd years 
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC
Notes: 20 hrs must be Cat A "formal"; HB 1719 was passed during the 2018 legislative session and signed into law. Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs)

CE Required: 30 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: No limit if ASHA-approved 
License Expiration: 1/31, odd years (CE due 12/31, even years) 
National Accreditation Accepted: ASHA (Professional Development Resources is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA Provider #AAUM) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology.)

Social Workers

The State Committee for Social Workers voted that for ONLY the 2021 renewal cycle, the 15-hour limit of correspondence courses have been waived. All licensees will still be required to do the required hours of continuing professional education, but these hours can be any combination of live programs, webinars and correspondence courses and other approved methods. Other hourly limits for credits for publications, etc. remain in place. Do not forget that you are now required to complete 2 hours in suicide along with your required 3 hours in ethics.

Missouri Committee for Social Workers

CE Required: 30 hours every 2 years 
Online CE Allowed: 15 hours (self-study)
License Expiration: 9/30, every 2 years from initial 
National Accreditation Accepted: ASWB, APA 
Notes: 3 hrs ethics presented by a social worker required each renewal; HB1719 passed this last legislative session and the bill includes language requiring all health care professionals to complete two hours of suicide prevention training as a condition of the initial licensure and subsequent renewals.

Marriage & Family Therapists (MFTs)

Missouri State Committee for Marital and Family Therapists 
CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years 
Online CE Allowed: 40 hours (Min. 20 of "Formal" hours)
License Expiration: 2/28, even years 
National Accreditation Accepted: APA, NBCC
Notes: 2 hours suicide prevention; Minimum of 20 hours to be "Formal"

Continuing education consists of two formats; formal and self-study. A licensee must obtain at least twenty (20) hours of formal continuing education. Formal hours include workshops, seminars, meetings, on-line (must have certificate or letter documenting date, hours & topic) post degree graduate course work, and in-service presentations provided by employers. The remaining hours in continuing education can be obtained via self-study or through additional formal CE. In general, if a licensee receives a certificate, letter, or transcript of completion documenting date, topic, provider, and number of hours, the continuing education is considered formal. PDR provides a certificate documenting the date, topic, provider, and number of hours completed.
