North Carolina continuing education (CE) requirements:

Psychologists

North Carolina Psychology Board  
CE Required: 24 hours, even years (15 hrs must be Cat A) 
Online CE Allowed: No limit if APA-sponsored (Cat A) 
License Expiration: 9/30, even years 
National Accreditation Accepted: APA 
Notes: 3 hrs ethical & legal issues required each renewal (must be Cat A)

Counselors

North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors 
CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years 
Online CE Allowed: No limit 
License Expiration: 6/30, every 2 years from initial 
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC
Notes: 3 hours ethics required each renewal. Supervisors must also complete 10 hours of counseling supervision (total 50 hours). The required Jurisprudence Exam counts for five (5) contact hours in ethics.

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs)

North Carolina Board of Examiners of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology 
CE Required: 30 hours every 3 years (i.e., 2017, 2020, 2023) 
Online CE Allowed: No limit if ASHA approved
License Expiration: 12/31, annually
National Accreditation Accepted: ASHA
Notes: May use ASHA certification as proof of completion of CE
