Tennessee Board of Examiners of Psychology
CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: 20 hours if APA approved (type 1) must have posttest
License Expiration: DOB, every 2 years (CE due 12/31 prior to license renewal year)
National Accreditation Accepted: APA
Notes: 3 hrs in TN code, rules & ethics required each renewal, 3 hours of cultural diversity also required at each renewal

Tennessee Board for Professional Counselors & MFTs
CE Required: 20 hours
Online CE Allowed: 10 hours (multi-media) must have posttest Note: For persons holding 2 certificates and/or licenses for Professional Counselors and Marital and Family Therapists or Pastoral Therapist may receive a maximum of 15 clock hours for multi media courses may be taken during the two year period. For those people with all three licenses or certificates, a maximum of 20 clock hours for multimedia course for the 2 calendar year period.
License Expiration: Birthmonth, every 2 years (CE due 12/31, prior to license renewal year)
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC, APA
Notes: 3 hrs ethics required each renewal

National Accreditation Accepted: Licensee responsible for determining appropriateness of courses
Notes: 5 hrs must directly relate to area of practice

CE Required: BA in social work = 9 hours; MA in social work = 12 hours; Advanced practice or Licensed clinical = 15 hours
Home Study Allowed: 2/3 of total hours required for specific license (multi-media)
License Expiration: CE due 12/31, annually
National Accreditation Accepted: Licensee responsible for determining appropriateness
Notes: BA licensees need 4 CE hours related to social work and 3 hours CE related to ethics; MA licensses need 7 CE hours related to social work and 3 CE hours CE related to ethics; Advanced Practise and Licensed Clicnical social workers need 10 hours CE hours related to social work and 3 CE hours related to ethics.

Those persons holding 2 certifciates or licenses may recieve a maximum of 7 1/2 hours for multi media courses and those having 3 certificates or licneses ( counseling, marriage and family therapy, pastoral therapy) may receive a maximum of 10 clock hours for multi media courses each calendar year.

License Expiration: DOB, every 2 years
National Accreditation Accepted: N/A
Notes: Continuing education for license renewal is not mandatory in Tennessee. However, continuing competency is the standard in Tennessee. In order to maintain competency, each dietitian/nutritionist is encouraged to attend and participate in professional continuing education programs.
