Florida MHC/CSW/MFT License Renewal Requirements
Florida-licensed counselors, social workers, and MFTs are required to earn 30 hours of continuing education (CE) each renewal period (every 2 years).
Required Subject Areas
- 2 hours must be on Preventing Medical Errors each renewal.
- 3 hours on Ethics & Boundaries in Psychotherapy – or – 3 hours in Telehealth are required alternately each renewal.
- 2 hours in Domestic Violence are required every third renewal.
- 3 hours in Florida Laws and Rules are also required every third renewal.
- 4 hours Qualified Supervision Training are required every third renewal for qualified supervisors only.
Online CE Allowed: No limit @ PDR (board-approved provider)
License Renewal Deadline: March 31, 2027
Required Background Screening: As of July 1, 2025, all healthcare professionals in Florida must comply with background screening requirements when applying for initial licensure or renewing their license. Your license renewal will not be approved until this requirement, along with all other licensure criteria, has been met.
